Scope and Content

Papers dealing with the development and use of a `New Sign Language' (later `Systematic Sign Language') for the deaf, aimed in particular at the teaching of children with hearing and speech problems. Developed by his Grace Paget in collaboration with Dr Pierre Gorman after Sir Richard's death.

Acquisition Information

The earlier papers were deposited on indefinite loan by Lady Paget in 1972, with additions in 1974 and 1978. Further deposits were made in February and April 1998 by the Paget Gorman Society.
