William Evans ('Wil Ifan o Fôn'), antiquary and poet, was born at Pentraeth, Anglesey. He researched the history of the bardic tradition of Wales and published many books and articles on the subject, including Bards of the Island of Britain (Red Wharf Bay, Anglesey, 1930).
