NPG - Corporate & Business Plans

This material is held atNational Portrait Gallery Archive

Scope and Content

The corporate plan document is used by the Gallery to measure and manage its own performance and achievements.

Early reports are organised by department; latterly they are organised by activity (eg. caring for the collections; research and documentation; visiting the gallery its outstations etc). Reports routinely include details of the Gallery's aims and objectives; future plans and priorities; income and expenditure, both planned and current; as well as details of the Gallery's main activities, resources, projects and funds. Each report covers a 3-4 year period, detailing future plans.

Administrative / Biographical History

The Gallery compiled its first corporate plan in 1987. Thereafter plans were produced mostly on an annual basis (with some gaps). Initially the plan was intended primarily for internal audiences, but since c2000 it has increasingly become a public-facing document.

Corporate & Business plans from 2005-2008 are published on the Gallery's website.
