Aberdeen University holds many manuscript collections and printed volumes, of, or relating to, John Malcolm Bulloch. There is as yet, no single listing of these items, which were gifted to the University over a long period of time by Bulloch and his successors. The collections described below are readily identifiable as originating from Bulloch, although many other items, especially annotated copies of printed volumes, and manuscript collections assembled in the course of his research, may also be deposited within the University general library stock and Historic Collections.

GB 231 MS 0840 Collection of original autograph letters and other papers of the Gordon family, Aberdeenshire, 1694-1814, compiled by John Malcolm Bulloch, with related biographical and historical notes made by him, re. authors and events.
GB 231 MS 0911 Transcript of diary of David Cargill (1809-43), missionary, Fiji, 1842-43, made by Constance Griffiths in 1920, with an account of the Cargill family by John Malcolm Bulloch. GB 231 MS 0967 Small collection compiled by John Malcolm Bulloch, relating to the history and genealogy of the Forbes family, of Ballogie, Aberdeenshire. Includes a pedigree, by Bulloch, of the Forbes family of Ballogie, and transcripts of the wills of Alexander Forbes, 1723 and Thomas Forbes, 1777.

Many of the notes and genealogies in this small collection were compiled by Harry Pirie Gordon, on behalf of John Malcolm Bulloch (a covering letter is enclosed).
GB 231 MS 1021 Collection of papers compiled by John Malcolm Bulloch, c 1934, relating to John Auldjo (1805-86), FRS, explorer, and the Auldjo family of Aberdeen. The collection includes transcripts of correspondence between John Auldjo (1805 - 1886) and Robert Bulwer-Lytton (1836-66), 1st Earl of Lytton, statesman and poet.
GB 231 MS 1072 Collection of papers and photographs compiled by John Malcolm Bulloch, c 1934, relating to barracks in Aberdeen, 1794-1934. The collection includes an album of photographs of the Aberdeen Company of the Volunteer Medical Staff Corps, and others, 1897 - 1901, which is inscribed To Dr Bulloch, by John Malcolm Bulloch; papers relating to Castle Hill Barracks (1794 - 1934), including transcripts of documents, 1795 - 1899, dealing with acquisition of the land, together with plans of the site and a history of the opening ceremony by John Malcolm Bulloch; papers and photographs relating to the opening ceremony at the Bridge of Don Barracks, 1934.

This collection was assembled during his lifetime's research on the Gordon families of Aberdeenshire, and was widely used in his many publications on the subject. The collection is arranged by format (volumes, research notes, pamphlets, etc.) and by family branch therein.
