The collection consists of one notebook, inscribed 'Victor T.S. Cresswell, University College, Nottingham. Practical Geology. October 1927-'.
The notebook is handwritten in ink, with most entries dated 6 October 1927 to 28 March 1928. The first section contains notes on mineralogy, crystallography, various mineral groups, precious ores and metals, and petrology, and includes numerous coloured drawings. A section in the middle of the notebook contains notes on fossils, and includes numerous pencil drawings.
The final section, commenced from the back of the volume, contains notes on contours, headed 'Physical Geography' and dated 23 May to 25 June 1928; there are also printed geological map exercises stuck into the volume.
