Administrative / Biographical History

Valley Rural District Council (RDC), Anglesey, was established in 1894 as the successor to Valley Rural Sanitary Authority. RDCs could be administered by a number of committees and by appointed officers including a Clerk, Treasurer, Medical Officer of Health, Surveyor and Sanitary Inspector. Valley RDC included most of the western part of the county (Aberffraw, Bodedern, Bodwrog, Ceirchiog, Cerrigceinwen, Heneglwys, Llanddeusant, Llandrygan, Llanfaelog, Llanfaethlu, Llanfair yn Neubwll, Llanfwrog, Llangwyfan, Llanfihangel-yn-Nhowyn, Llanllibio, Llanrhuddlad, Llantrisant, Llanyngenedl, Llechylched, Rhoscolyn and Trewalchmai). Valley RDC was abolished in 1974.
