Administrative / Biographical History

The North Wales Coast Football Association (NWCFA) was formed in 1894 to oversee the North Wales Coast League, itself inaugurated in 1893. Its council originally comprised the president, five vice presidents and an executive committee. The Association was affiliated to the Football Association of Wales. J. Llewelyn Williams (d. 1945) of Holywell, Flintshire, became the Association's secretary in 1897, with J. W. Post (d. 1941) of Conwy, Caernarfonshire, becoming treasurer in about 1908. As well as the League, the Association organised an Amateur Cup and Junior Cup for its members. When the League was disbanded in 1921, on the formation of the new Welsh National League (north), the Association replaced it with a Challenge Cup, beginning in 1923/4. The NWCFA also regularly organised matches against the Scottish Junior Football Association.
