Scope and Content

Matilda de Somer', widow, confirms her gift to Isabella and Oliva 'inclusis sub alis ecclesie de Fordham [Cambridgeshire]', and to Juliana de Braytoft, of an acre of arable (detailed) in the fields of Fordham, reserving annual rent of one penny for all services. Reversion to the heirs of Matilda should the three donees die without alienating the property. Deed poll, witnessed by Robert son of Walter, Henry son of Peter, Richard de Mora, Henry Caret', John Tholy, Simon le Cumb'r, William son of Edmund, Everard ad Fordham, and others. Endorsed in fourteenth-century hand: 'Carta de i roda terre / iacet in Fordham'. Further endorsed (thrice): '19./', and with what appears to be the mark of Fordham Priory. Tag, traces of pendant seal.
