A notebook containing information about early editions of Shakespeare, collected from various sources. On the flyleaf is a note signed by F.J. Burgoyne, Librarian, Lambeth Library, stating that "This MS. from page 19 is in the handwriting of John Payne Collier." (Collier (1789-1883) was a Shakespeare scholar with a reputation for forgery.)

Copies may be made, subject to the condition of the original, which must be assessed by a conservator. Copying must be undertaken by the Palaeography Room staff, who will need a minimum of 24 hours to process requests.
Custodial History
With the bookplate of John Poynder (1779-1849); and another bearing the motto "sub robore virtus". Two notes on the fly-leaf, in the same hand: "Bought at Poynder's sale [1850] for £1. Bought at Mr. Halliwell's sale of Shakespeariana May 23rd 1856 for £1--8."
