Scope and Content

Papers relating to his University of London studies and his activities as a lecturer whilst a prisoner of war. Includes University of London external exam papers, student regulations stamped with insignia of Prisoner of War camp Oflag VIIB, Eichstätt, Germany. Also manuscript notebooks by (then) Captain Reader on subjects studied including physics and pure mathematics; Red Cross envelope sent by the University of London. Also includes examination papers hand-written by Captain Reader.

Administrative / Biographical History

R. W. Reader won the Whitworth prize in 1935. He trained as an engineer. During the Second World War, he was held in the Oflag VII B prisoner of war camp.
