Scope and Content

Comprises a copy of Iohan. Posthii Germershemii tetrasticha in Ovidii Metamor. Lib. XV. ..., [Frankfurt?], 1563, with 167 separate English stanzas written on blank verso pages (i.e. facing the Latin and German texts and woodcuts on the rectos) in a hand of c.1600.

Hugh C.H. Candy, Some Newly Discovered Stanzas Written by John Milton on Engraved Scenes Illustrating Ovid's Metamorphoses (London, 1924) is shelved with the volume. Hugh Candy believed that the English translations in question were composed and transcribed by John Milton in his youth, ca. 1623.
