Smith's autobiography of service as an Administrative Officer in Cameroon and Eastern Nigeria (1924-1955) entitled "The Last Time", with related reports, papers and letters home.

Administrative / Biographical History

James Stewart Smith, CMG (1955), was born on the 15 August 1900 and educated at Marlborough College, and King's College, Cambridge. He joined the Nigerian Administrative Service in 1924 and subsequently served as Senior District Officer (1943), Resident (1945) and Senior Resident (1951). He was awarded the Papal Order of Knight Commander of the Order of St Gregory the Great in 1953. Smith died on the 13 February 1987.
