Administrative / Biographical History

G.A.C. Herklots (b 1902), CBE (1961) was educated at Trent College, Derbyshire, Leeds University and Trinity Hall, Cambridge. He was made Secretary for Development, Hong Kong, 1946, Secretary for Colonial Agricultural Res[ources] and Secretary of the Committee for Colonial Agriculture, Animal Health and For[estry] Res[ources], Colonial Office, 1948. He served as Principal, I.C.T.A., from 1953.

Photographs of Tang Yin Wei's plant drawings and three books by Herklots on Hong Kong trees and vegetables were sent to the University's Department of Plant Sciences, a book and offprint on fish to the Radcliffe Science Library.
