Guy Edmond Wheeler was born on 13 October 1921 in Burma, the illegitimate son of Charles Wainwright Fahey and Getrude Edmondson. He was adopted by Getrude's sister, Lucy Wheeler, and her husband, Frederick Stimpson Wheeler. Guy Wheeler was educated in England, Ireland and France. He became a tutor at Oxford before teaching at Hacettepe University, Ankara.
