Born in 1897; 2nd Lt, Royal Engineers, 1917; Lt, 1918; served in Iraq operations, 1919-1920, and in Malabar, 1921-1922; Capt, 1926; Adjutant, 1927-1930; General Staff Officer Grade 3, India, 1933-1935; Deputy Assistant Quartermaster General, India, 1935-1937; Maj, 1936; General Staff Officer Grade 2, Staff College, India, 1937-1940; head of Future Operations Planning Section of Joint Planning Staff, War Office, 1940-1941; Lt Col, 1942; honorary Brig and retired, 1947; died in 1984.
