Scope and Content

This collection consists mainly of farm diaries with entries relating to a range of daily and seasonal farm activities such as ploughing, fencing, sale of produce, letting of land and other subjects such as stock prices and weather conditions.

The diaries were kept by at least two people, that of John (surname unavailable) whose last entry was dated 20 August 1912 and his niece Miss M.C. Hughes who died in 1937.

The collection also contains general accounts and some personal diaries of Griffith Griffiths, Miss M.C. Hughes' maternal uncle, an army surgeon who served with the Indian army for many years. His diaries do not relate to the farm but contain details of his personal life after retirement.

Material has been arranged chronologically and incorporated into the General Collection of Bangor Manuscripts .
