Administrative / Biographical History

This union was formed in 1889 at Willenhall as the National Amalgamated Lock, Latch and Key Smiths Trade Society, later becoming the National Amalgamated Lock Maker and Metal Workers Trade Society. It incorporated the Spring Trap Makers Society, though this union retained its separate identity. The Lock Makers and Metal Workers Society changed its name to the National Union of Lock and Metal Workers in 1925.
