Lloyd, 1875-1978, including official programmes, competition subject lists, handbooks, reports and other papers relating to the National Eisteddfod, 1925-1978, the Urdd National Eisteddfod, 1936-1977, and other eisteddfodau, 1938-1978; programmes, hymn anthologies, and other printed material, for Cymanfaoedd Canu and other meetings, 1919-1978; handbooks and annual reports for various Churches and chapels, mainly in north Wales, 1923-1977; programmes for ordination meetings, 1930-1978; service sheets for weddings, 1930-1978, and funerals, 1944-1978, mainly in the Dolgellau area; diaries relating to Dolgellau, 1875-1890; notebooks of R. E. Edwards concerning Dafydd ap Gwilym and other poets, [1920s]-[1930s]; notes of the Rev. Tom Phillips on religious matters, [1930s]-[1950s].

Administrative / Biographical History

The Rev. Owen Morgan Lloyd (1910-1980) was a Congregational minister. He was born in Blaenau Ffestiniog, Merionethshire, attended the University College of North Wales, Bangor, and graduated from Coleg Bala-Bangor in 1934. He was ordained minister of Soar Congregational Church, Nefyn, Caernarfonshire, in 1937, then became minister of Tabernacl and Islaw'rdref Independent Churches, Dolgellau, Merionethshire, in 1955. Lloyd wrote poetry, collected posthumously in Barddoniaeth O. M. Lloyd (Bow Street, 1981), and wrote a weekly column, 'O Gader Idris', in Y Dydd from 1956 to 1979. Lloyd collected ephemera relating to eisteddfodau and chapels of various denominations as well as some manuscript material. He was married to Gwyneth and had three children, Gwyn, Rhys and Nest. He died on 1 February 1980. The Rev. Tom Phillips, to whom some papers relate, was Calvinistic Methodist minister in Dolgellau until 1973.
