Printed circular letter from G E Phillips, Department of Missions, Selly Oak Colleges, Birmingham, December 1943. Discusses changing world and impact on Selly Oak, events for missionaries on furlough, thoughts on those interned and asks for continued co-operation for providing source material for seminars, etc.

Offers thanks for letters giving personal accounts of mission, particularly during trying times of war. Whilst Christianity remains the same mission must change as the world changes. Mentions staff changes at Selly Oak and hopes to improve the preparation of male missionaries before going abroad, particularly to reflect impact of war. Support for indigenous clergy and formation of national churches.

Administrative / Biographical History

Dorothy May Howard Tripp (1901-1992) served as a doctor in the Hyderabad District of the (Wesleyan) Methodist Missionary Society from 1931 to 1953.

James Lawson Garforth (1912-2002) served as a minister in the Hyderabad District of the (Wesleyan) Methodist Missionary Society from 1937 to 1961.
