Administrative / Biographical History

The donor's family moved from Wereham to Old Hall Farm, Shotesham in 1871. By the eighteen-nineties they were also farming Cranes Farm and Great Wood Farm. In 1921, Great Wood Farm, (which may have incorporated Lath Green Farm) was relinquished, but Newton Dairy Farm and Park Farm seem to have been occupied sometime during the 1920's. The occupiers were originally Charles Hazell, who died in 1908, and James and Frederick Hazell who formed a partnership in about 1913

Farm size: Cranes Farm: 159 acres; Great Wood Farm: 122 acres; Newton Dairy Farm: 156 acres; Old Hall Farm: 320 acres; Park Farm: 166 acres; Skeets Hill Farm: 156 acres
