Scope and Content

This artificial collection consists mainly of title deeds, trust settlements and probate records and relates to parishes in several counties. Although the majority of the places are in Oxfordshire, the collection includes sequences of deeds for the manor of Longfield (Kent) and property in Stroud (Gloucestershire). The Longfield records include five court rolls, dated between 1595 and 1720.

There are also documents concerning premises in the counties of Warwickshire, Wiltshire, Berkshire, Glamorgan, Northamptonshire, Essex and Norfolk. Material which did not seem to fit in with other items has been placed in a 'miscellaneous' section at the end of the catalogue.

Among the Woodstock papers are a series of returns of Members of Parliament for the Borough, 1768-1847.

The collection was deposited in November 1992, as accession 3539.

Catalogued by Mark Priddey, July 1996.
