Administrative / Biographical History
Formed in 1825, the Manchester Brass Founders', Turners', Fitters' and Finishers' Association had 700 members by 1900 and 1000 by 1910. In 1912 it merged with other sectional societies to form the Amalgamated Association of Brassfounders, Turners, Fitters, Finishers and Coppersmiths who in turn joined with the Amalgamated Society of Engineers to form the Amalgamated Engineering Union in 1920.

These papers form part of a large collection www.warwick.ac.uk/services/library/mrc/ead/259col.htm" linktype="simple">(MSS.259)that has been deposited in the Modern Records Centre over a number of years. Most of the Records came from the Amalgamated Union of Engineering Workers (Engineering Section). The first deposits were made in 1984 with further deposits made up to 1997.
