Administrative / Biographical History
World famous, Armstrong Siddeley became renowned for aircraft manufacture, aero engine, car and aircraft design. The Armstrong Siddeley collection relates to the area of the company dedicated to aero-engines and rockets. It is composed largely of technical reports, plans and photographs.
Access Information
Records will be made available to the public for research during the advertised opening hours of the City Archives and in accordance with the search room rules, and the principles and conditions of the Data Protection Act 1998 and the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
Archives staff will comply with any common law or statutory provision governing public access to records. Depositors may negotiate their own conditions of access with the City Archivist.
The City Archives is currently offering a service to the public from temporary premises. In early 2007 the City Archives will move into purpose built accommodation as part of the Coventry History Centre, which is within The Herbert re-development scheme. Archives collections are mostly housed with Archives Offices in Warwickshire, Staffordshire and Oxfordshire. The public is still able to consult records but documents need to be ordered a few days in advance.
