Essays, annual reports, letters, photographs, plans etc. relating to churches belonging to the Llyn and Eifionydd Calvinist Methodist Presbytery. Also, miscellaneous papers such as minutes of meetings, financial records, statistics, lists, details of various characters and papers belonging to Henry Hughes, Bryncir.

According to numerous pamphlets chronicling the history of the Calvinist Methodist cause in Llyn and Eifionydd, held at the Library of the University of Wales Bangor, there were 72 churches in the circuit in 1903. By 1989 there were 66 churches and by 1994 the number had decreased to 63. Manuscripts were transferred to the Archives Department of the University of Wales Bangor in 1976 by the Llyn and Eifionydd Calvinist Methodist Presbytery.

These manuscripts were discovered by Rev. Goronwy P. Owen and Rev. Edwin Parry in a chest at Penmount chapel, Pwllheli, which explains the title given to them. Many of the papers were once held by Rev. Henry Hughes, Bryncir.
