Scope and Content

In pure and perpetual alms for his soul and for those of his ancestors, John Campiun confirms his gift (with warranty for due performance of the service outlined below) to his sister Juliana, of three acres of land in the fields of Eversdun. One acre lies in the field of Brunebroc, in Grenediche, between the lands of Leticia Machael' and Richard Peytevin. The other two acres lie in the field of Heydon, one acre next to Benches and one acre on Presteshul. They are to be held by Juliana from God and from the church of the Blessed Virgin Mary of [Great] Eversdun, on condition that she provides an annual payment sufficient to maintain a lamp 'ante crucem assendendum ad omnes missas (?)' Deed poll, witnessed by Luke of Eversden, William Pudifat, William Carpenter, William Peuerel, Robert Winem', Ralph Finor, William Marti', Walter Carpenter, William son of Theda, John son of Gerard, and many others. Seal wanting. Endorsed in pencil: '44'.
