Scope and Content

Abstract of accounts of Llangybi Board School providing an insight into the financial aspects of a rural school in north Wales including details of teacher salaries and fees, 1876-1886.

Administrative / Biographical History

Llangybi is a small inland parish in Caernarfonshire, located between the parishes of Llanaelhaearn and Llanarmon.

No information was available regarding the founding of Llangybi Board School.

Thanks to the Education Act of 1870, full education was provided for lower-class children up to the age of 13; and where National and British schools were inadequate, School Boards would be set up to build a Board school.
