Letters sent to Margot Coatts by Margery Kendon (December 1983 - February 1984), John Piper (February - March 1984), Marianne de Trey (January - February 1984) and William (Bill) Ismay (March - April 1984), with some replies.

Administrative / Biographical History

After training as a sculptor, Margot Coatts worked as a curator at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. Later she moved to Southern Arts as an administrator and then to the Crafts Council as an exhibition organiser. From 1978 she pursued a career as an independent consultant, and undertook work for the Crafts Study Centre including the research for the book and exhibition on Ethel Mairet, A Weaver's Life (1983).
