Hilary Jenkinson (1882-1961) received an honorary LLD from the University of Aberdeen in 1949.

Custodial History
Hilary Jenkinson bequeathed all books and pamphlets in his library presented to him by, or containing autograph letters of, their authors to the University of Aberdeen in 1961. The bequest comprised over 570 pamphlets and 500 volumes. The pamphlets (mainly on archives, archival studies, history and palaeography), were accessioned as a special library collection, under the reference pHJ; whilst his books (covering a greater variety of topics) have been dispersed throughout the library system. The letters referred to in his bequest have been removed from the volumes and deposited in the University Archives as GB 231 MS 2786.
