A further deposit comprised of notes made from the archives of the River Plate Trust Loan and Agency Company by Charles and Linda Jones in 1972 prior to the destruction of the archive and a short account of the original records and the work undertaken, was deposited in 2017. The original material, from which the notes were made, dated from c1882-1917.

Administrative / Biographical History

The River Plate Trust Loan and Agency Company Ltd (founded in 1881), which administered various companies in South America, was succeeded in 1961 by the River Plate and Mercantile Trust Ltd, and which then became the River and Mercantile Trust PLC in 1962.

Notes made from the archives of the River Plate Trust Loan and Agency Company by Charles and Linda Jones in 1972. The archives were destroyed by the firm when the firm was dissolved following the 1976 military coup. The original material, from which the notes were made, dated from c1882-1917.
