Guido Papini was born at Camaiore near Lucca, Italy on 1 August 1847. He was a pupil of the violin professor Giorgetti and made his debut at the age of 13 in Spohr's third concerto in Florence. He made regular visits to London and in 1893 became principal violin professor at the Royal Irish Academy of Music, Dublin. He retired in 1896 through ill health but continued to provide private tuition and to compose. His published compositions comprise two concertos for violin and cello, a violin school 'Exercises de mcanisme pour le violin seul', and smaller pieces such as the 'Feuillets d'Album'. He published songs, trios for two violins and piano, a quartet for three violins and piano and edited the 24 'Caprices' by Paganinini. Papini died in London on 3 October 1912.
