Scope and Content

Soroptimist International was formed in 1921 and the Oxford and District Branch was formed in 1958 and is a worldwide vounteer organisation for women. The organisation advocates for human rights and gender equality across the world through its status non-governmental ornganisation at the United Nations. The term Soroptimist comes from soror = sister and optima = the best and means the best for women.
