Papers of Dr French Lawrence, consisting chiefly of a number of briefs and other documents relating to the tiral of Warren Hastings or to persons connected with it. The impeachment of Warren Hastings by the House of Commons, began on 13 February 1788 and ended with his acquittal on 23 April 1795.

Dr French Lawrence (d 1809) was a leading barrister in the naval and ecclesiastical courts, a friend of Burke's, and one of the counsel who conducted the impeachment of Warren Hastings, Governor-General of India, 1774-1784 (details of Warren Hastings are given in the Dictionary of National Biography).
