Scope and Content

Photocopy of the log book of the packet, the Uxbridge, 1809 October 31 - 1810 November 23. Incluudes details of sailing, weather conditions, names of passengers, and copy letters. The Commender of the packet and creator of the log is named as Colin Jones.

Administrative / Biographical History

The Uxbridge was a packet-boat which sailed between Holyhead and Dublin, conveying mail and passengers.

Administrative information regarding the history of the Holyhead packets can be obtained from Royal Mail to Ireland by Edward Watson, 1917 and Holyhead and the Royal Mail : a postal history by John Cowell, 1990.
