A historic event for the University of Strathclyde, the Power and Energy Honorary Degree Ceremony was held at the Glasgow Science Centre on 18 February 2013. At this ceremony, the following six distinguished figures in the power and energy sector were awarded the degree of Doctor of Science, honoris causa: Keith Cochrane, Group Chief Executive, The Weir Group PLC; Professor José Ignacio Sánchez Galán, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Iberdrola; Steve Holliday, Chief Executive, National Grid; Professor David MacKay, Chief Scientific Advisor, Department of Energy and Climate Change; Ian Marchant, Chief Executive Officer, Scottish and Southern Energy; Sir Ian Wood CBE.
