Records from the registrar of births, deaths and marriages, Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, 1812-1913, including papers of Henry Ress, Deputy Sheriff, 1812-1815; quarterly returns of numbers of births, deaths and marriages, 1853-1854; lists of Chapels of dissenters, 1852-1952; minutes of Deputy Lieutenannts' meeting concerning the militia, 1852-1853; circulars and papers relating to the registration of births, deaths and marriages, 1836-1913; and papers relating to the qualifications of medical practitioners, 1853. The collection does not contain the Register of Births, Deaths and Marriages.

Administrative / Biographical History

The registrar of the Registration District of Pembrokeshire Tower Hill, Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, is responsible for registering births, deaths and marriages and preparing quarterly returns of statistics. This system was created in 1837. The registrar also accumulated papers relating to registered places of worship, medical practitioners, and papers of the Deputy Lieutenant and Deputy Sheriff.
