This collection contains journals produced by the Forth and Clyde Canal Society.

Administrative / Biographical History

The Forth and Clyde Canal Society was formed in April 1980 with the aim of protecting and promoting the canal which, after its closure in 1963, had suffered years of decay and neglect.

The society is active in raising public awareness of the canal and lobbying authorities to maintain and promote the canal. It holds talks, meetings and organised boat trips and was instrumental in British Waterways decision to restore the canal
