Scope and Content

This collection contains: rules, 1914; signed minutes,1865-1924; annual financial statements of the Steel Ingot Makers' Association, the Board of Conciliation and Arbitration for the Manufactured Iron and Steel Trade of the North of England and the North of England Iron and Steel Manufacturers' Association, 1885-1921; agreements with workers' representatives,1901-1920.

Administrative / Biographical History

The North of England Iron Manufacturers' Association, as reconstituted on 31 July 1865, held its first meeting on 30 Aug 1865. The words 'and Steel' were added to its title in 1889. In 1922 it became the Number Two Division of the Iron and Steel Trades Employers' Association.
