Scope and Content

Collection of photographs by John Mitchinson to record the architectural remains of religious houses in Great Britain, late 19th-early 20th century, with notes on each foundation from printed sources. In each volume there is an index of places and a printed sheet of 'prolegomena' describing the scope and contents of the work.

John Mitchinson (1833-1918) was Canon of Gloucester and Master of Pembroke College, Oxford. Details are given in Who Was Who.
