Robert Roberts & Co., Ltd., Tea & Coffee Merchants was founded by the late Mr Robert Roberts in 1840 and continued to be sucessfully run by his sons. The proprietor in 1888 was Mr Benjamin Chaffers Roberts with branches in Liverpool, London, Manchester, Birmingham, Birkenhead, Preston & Southport. He wanted to realise a portion of his capital and this prospectus was created to attract share capital and debentures.
