Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
Mining Association of Great Britain was operating in London, England, between 1922 and 1949 as a trade association. The Mining Association was formed in 1854 as a permanent body which included representation from most regions. The association worked to encourage inventions and improvements that affected safety, and promoted mining education. It was also concerned with monitoring tariffs and taxation, and relations with canal and railway companies, harbour boards and other such bodies; but price and wage determination were specifically excluded from its terms of reference.
