Business diaries of Richard Meacock, from his shop and art gallery at 24 Richmond Hill. They contain details of his transactions as an art dealer, and descriptions of customers and incidents in the shop, as well as details of Richard's activities as part of the campaign to ensure that an ice rink was retained in the Borough of Richmond upon Thames. The diaries contain entries by multiple authors, presumably people working in the gallery and shop.

Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
Richard Meacock (c.1941-2006) was a passionate practitioner and advocate of ice skating, who regularly visited Richmond Ice Rink in Twickenham with his wife Hilary and children, Theodore, Duncan, Dominic, and Danae. When Richmond Ice Rink was threatened with closure, Richard led a campaign to save it. The Rink was closed in 1992, but Richard and his fellow campaigners continued to fight to ensure that a replacement rink be built within the Borough. Richard's campaign headquarters were at 24 Richmond Hill, Richmond. At the same address Richard also ran an estate agency and art gallery, where he sold work by himself and other artists. Richard died on 9 April 2006, at which time a replacement ice rink had still not been built.
Arrangement
The Richard Meacock Diaries are arranged in one series, DC19/1, containing four diaries.
