Scope and Content

WILL: John Jones, Black Bridge Foundry and Bodelwy, London Road, Holyhead. Appoints his wife Elizabeth to be executrix and leaves her the business, good will stock intrade, fixtures and effects. After her death the same to his son John Jones. He gives his real estate and residue of his personal estate to his wife and after her death the same to be divided between John Jones his son and Ellen the wife of Evan Evans his daughter of No. 8 Church Terrace, Holyhead.

Administrative / Biographical History

John Jones was a noted iron-founder who carried out all the work for the City of Dublin Steam Packet Co. He was a prominent Calvinistic Methodist, being an elder at Hyfrydle Church, Thomas Street for over 40 years. The railings in front of the chapel are a fine example of his foundry’s work. He also railed the public right of way passing through St. Cybi's churchyard.
