Administrative / Biographical History

The private bank of Pinckney Brothers was established in 1811 and was the first bank to open in Salisbury. It was originally known as Everett & Co. but was renamed Pinckney Bros in about 1859 after partnership changes. It was also known as New Sarum Bank and Salisbury Old Bank. It was taken over by the Wilts & Dorset Banking Company (est. 1835) in 1897.
