Scope and Content

Comprises:

  • Transcript copy of correspondence (31 letters) from British representatives to others in India (1801-1806). Correspondents include Sir Arthur Wellesley, first Duke of Wellington (1769-1852) and his brother, Lord Mornington at Fort William to Lord Clive; Lord Mornington to William Petrie (member of the Madras Council and Governor of Fort St. George) and Josiah Webbe (Secretary to the Madras Government); I. Moncton at Barrackpore to the Rajah Ambajee Row; and the (second) Earl of Powis at Ludlow to the Earl of Hardwicke.
  • Sale particulars of the Llysdulas Estate, Anglesey (September 23, 1954). Includes 2 maps and separate notice of a timber sale.
  • Motoring journal compiled by Miss Edith Massey of Cornelyn, Llangoed, Anglesey (1914 January 3 -1919 July 8). It contains records of journeys made by car by Edith, her sister Gwennie and Wilson their chauffeur in England and Wales. The journal ends when Wilson went to work in a munitions factory and begins again when he returned on 26 May 1919. It includes illustrations of Llysdulas Lodge, Trescawen, Plas Bodafon, Penmynydd Church, a windmill at Ty Croes and Llangwyfan Church and Bell, Penmon etc.

Administrative / Biographical History

Mrs Penelope Corrigan, ne Williams, of the Parciau Estate situated in the parish of Llaneugrad, Anglesey, was the daughter of Lawrence Williams and his second wife Elinor Henrietta Williams. Penelope was born on the 24 June 1925, her brother Sir Lawrence Hugh Williams on the 25 August 1929.

Material was received on separate occasions, arranged in chronological order and incorporated into the General Collection of Bangor Manuscripts .
