Archivist's Note
Postcards catalogued by Talbot K Green. Handwritten 'tkg' numbers on reverse of postcards were used by him to relate postcards to scanned images. Notes on reverse of postcards in his handwriting were copied by him from typed notes on duplicate copies of the same postcard, where the better quality card was retained.
Collection level description revised by Nathanael, May 2012.
Postcards originally catalogued by Talbot K Green, mid-2010. Updated by Guy Boocock, August 2013.
Custodial History
As Simmons sold many copies of his postcards, many individuals have donated Simmons postcards to the Mills Archive as part of their collections. Where these have been identified they have been removed and brought together in the H E S Simmons Collection to reduce duplication. The majority came from the Stephen Buckland Collection and Frank W Gregory Collection. Further cards may be added.
