Chris Davies b. 1954

Chris Davies was born in Lytham, Lancashire. He was educated at Cheadle Hulme School, Stockport, Gonville and Caius College Cambridge, and the University of Kent at Canterbury. He was a Liverpool City Councillor and was Chair to its Housing Committee 1980 - 1984. From 1983 - 1995 and again in 1997 - 1999 he worked as a marketing communications consultant. He first contested the Littleborough and Saddleworth constituency in the 1992 general election, when he was defeated by the Conservative, Geoffrey Dickens. After the death of Geoffrey Dickens in 1995 Chris Davies won the seat in a by-election and retained it in the 1997 general election. From 1999 he has been the MEP for North West England, and is also an environmental spokesman for European Parliament.
