Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
The origins of James Reid & Son Ltd, stationers and printers, Glasgow, Scotland, can be traced to 1848 . By the late nineteenth century the firm, then known as James Reid, was located at 144 Argyll Street, Glasgow. In around 1900 the business was renamed James Reid & Son and a year later it moved to new premises in Mitchell Street, Glasgow. In about 1925 the firm became a limited company as James Reid & Son Ltd, and in around 1960 it moved again, this time to 146 Stockwell Street, Glasgow. The company was dissolved in 1985 .
