Administrative / Biographical History
William Thomas Edwards, 1863 - 1940, is better known by his bardic name, Gwilym Deudraeth. Although born into a seafaring family, he went to work at the Oakeley Quarry in Blaenau Ffestiniog and later on the Ffestiniog Railway.
He was a poet, composing numerous englynion, and his work was published in 1926, Ychydig ar gof a chadw and in 1943, Yr Awen Barod. He died in 1940.

3 items were given to J. W. Jones of Blaenau Ffestiniog by the widow of Gwilym Deudraeth, on the day of her husband's funeral. Item 2545 was in the possession of W. Isaac Davies whilst compiling Ychydig ar gof a chadw.
