Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
Friends of Loch Lomond was established in 1978 in response to plans for the construction of a hydro-electric scheme on the east shore of Loch Lomond. The scheme was successfully defeated and the Friends of Loch Lomond continued to protect and promote Loch Lomond and the surrounding area. The Friends were involved in the campaign to prevent the sell-off of Ben Lomond and were instrumental in the establishment of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park in 2002.
