Documents and Papers of Major Thomas Moore

Personal papers of Major Thomas Moore, 1828-1860; papers of family members, 1800-1862; and letters of administration and wills, 1861-1884.

Major Thomas Moore (d. 1860) of Bathwick House, Bath, Somerset, was a member of the Moore family of Walwyn's Castle, Pembrokeshire. He served with the Royal Marines, and was married to Matilda Wilhelmina Rochat, of Southsea, Portsmouth (d. 1861) in 1828. She was the daughter of Samuel Rochat, of Hanover Square, London. Their son, William Frederick Moore, of Christchurch, New Zealand (d. 1874), a civil engineer, was declared a bankrupt; he was married to Josephine Montgomery, and they had a daughter, Frances Josephine. Other relatives included Elizabeth Moore, James Jordan Moore, Richard Moore, Thomas Moore the younger, Mary Moore, and Anne Moore of Milford (Wales).
